One day, when Gokuu was hunting for food outside, he met Bulma. This was the first person that Gokuu had met (other than Gohan ). Bulma saw the #4 Dragonball that Gokuu had, and wanted it. They argued for a while, and Bulma told Gokuu that if you bring all seven Earth Dragonballs together, then a dragon "Shenlong" will appear, and grant any wish. Gokuu agrees to help Bulma find the other Dragonballs, when suddenly a flying dinosaur attacks and captures Bulma. Gokuu pulls out his extending Bo, and attack the dinosaur with it. The dinosaur gets killed, and Bulma thanks Gokuu for saving her life. It's night time, so Bulma pulls out a house capsule, where they spend the night together.
Gokuu wakes up in the morning, and goes outside to break rocks (morning exercise). But one of the rocks is actually a turtle. Gokuu is surprised, and apologizes. The turtle asks where the sea is, and Gokuu volunteers to bring him there. Bulma is forced to follow Gokuu as Gokuu is needed as a bodyguard. While they are traveling to the sea, they run into a bear who wants to eat the turtle. Gokuu fights using the style Janken, and wins. When the reach the ocean, the turtle leaves them, and sinks into the water, only to reappear again with an old man on his back. The person is Kamesennin (turtle master). Kamesennin gives Gokuu a cloud called Kintoen as a thank you present. Bulma then sees Kamesennin's Dragonball, and makes a deal with Kamesennin. She lets him perve at her in exchange for the Dragonball. They currently have four Dragonballs now.
They leave, and search for the next Dragonball. Three days later, they enter a village. A pervert called Oolong is kidnapping girls; so Gokuu agrees to capture Oolong in exchange for one of the townfolk's Dragonball. When Oolong and Gokuu meet, Oolong expects to finish the fight quickly. But this isn't so, and Oolong panics, and runs away, turning into a pig (his true form). Gokuu captures the pig, and Bulma gets the Dragonball of the village, and continues their quests for the Dragonballs. Oolong is forced to come along by Bulma.
Three days later, they head towards Mt. Frypan, where the great Gyuu Maou (cow wizard) lives. Oolong gets scared and tries to escape, only to be captured again by Bulma and Gokuu. However, Bulma loses her capsules chasing Oolong. They lose hope after a while, and stop to take a rest. Only to be attacked by a hyena called Yamcha and a cat called Pool. Yamcha and Pool attack Oolong, and steal his capsules. Gokuu tries Janken against Yamcha to get the capsules back, but Yamcha uses Rougafuu-fuu. Gokuu is weak from hunger, and is unable to beat Yamcha. Yamcha looks at Bulma and is stunned by her beauty. While Yamcha is frozen, Gokuu beats him up and takes the capsules. Yamcha and Pool are then forced to retreat. Oolong uses his caravan capsule, and they spent the night in it. The next morning, Yamcha uses his Puncher Fist on the Caravan. The caravan is blown apart, while Gokuu, Bulma and Oolong are catapulted in the air. Yamcha tries getting the Dragonballs, but Gokuu beats him up. Yamcha then apologizes and drives them to Mt. Frypan (Yamcha plans to let Gokuu and Bulma do the work, then he'll make the wish). When they reach the mountain, Gokuu calls for Kintoen. Gyuu Maou recognizes Kintoen and asks Gokuu to take him to Kamesennin's house.
Gyuu Maou needs help putting out the fires of Mt. Frypan. Gokuu gets Kamesennin, who uses Kamehame-ha to not only put out the fire, but accidentally blow up the mountain as well. Gyuu-Maou offers Gokuu his daughter, and Chi-Chi is happy knowing that she's going to get a husband (she just doesn't know who it is). Kamesennin says that it took him 50 years to master Kamehame-ha, but Gokuu picks it up straight away. The rubble of the mountain contains the next Dragonball, that gives Bulma a total of six. They then go in search for the last Dragonball.
Palif has the last Dragonball, and plans to steal the others of Bulma. Palif uses sleeping gas, and locks Gokuu and his friends in a prison cell. It is night time and Gokuu is stuck in a cell with the others. Palif summons Shenlong, and Oolong yells out that he wants some panties. Shenlong grants the wish, and then disappears. Gokuu then looks up at the moon, and becomes a were-monkey. Gokuu then destroys Palif's castle and nearly kills people on both sides. Yamcha grabs Gokuu's tail while Pool cuts it off, turning Gokuu back to normal. They then leave the castle.
The next day, Kuririn arrives and asks for Kamesennin to teach him how to fight. Kamesennin does so, for the exchange of some etchi magazines (pornos). Kamesennin also trains Gokuu. The first part of training is to see who's fastest. Kuririn is 10 seconds, Gokuu is 11 seconds (8 with new shoes), but Kamesennin is 5 seconds. The second test is to find the rock with "Turtle" written on it. Whoever finds it within 30 minutes gets to eat supper. Kuririn cheats numerous times, and wins. The next day, Kamesennin have the boys do a milk delivery while hopping, skipping and zigzagging. Kuririn and Gokuu then start training their bodies. Kamesennin tells them to push a heavy rock. Gokuu then pushes the rock, to Kamesennin's surprise. So Gokuu and Kuririn are forced to wear 40 pound turtle shells on their back (to make the training harder). Kamesennin then tells them to move the massive bolder (as a joke). A month later, Gokuu runs into the house, claiming that he can push the bolder. Kuririn also pushes the bolder. Kamesennin can't believe how strong the pair have gotten, and gives them 90 pound turtle shells. When it's time for the Tenkaichi Budokai, Gokuu and Kuririn take of their turtle shells, and realize how strong they are.
At the tournament, Kuririn has to fight against one of the bullies in his village (he left his village to train under Kamesennin because the bully kept beating him up), and wins. Gokuu also ins his match. The semi-finals consists of Namu, Gokuu, Kuririn and Jackie Chun (really Kamesennin). Kuririn then faces Jackie Chun. Jackie nearly gets knocked out of the ring, but uses a Kamehame-ha to propel himself back in. Jackie then does a fake image, and knocks Kuririn out of the ring. Namu fights Gokuu, and loses. His moral drops as he has failed his village, so Jackie tells Namu that he is Kamesennin, and gives him a rain-maker capsule. Namu then mixes with the crowd and pretends that he is Kamesennin, that way, no-one can think that Jackie Chun is Kamesennin.
The final is then between Jackie Chun and Gokuu. Gokuu tries all of his best techniques which he learnt from Gohan, but Jackie Chun recognizes them and easily counters it. Gokuu tricks Jackie, and gets a few good hit in. Jackie then starts up Bankokubikkurishou (lightning attack) which would kill Gokuu. Gokuu look at the moon, and turns into a were-monkey, and the lightning attack has no effect on him. Jackie starts up a full power Kamehame-ha and blows up the moon. Gokuu then turns back to normal. Gokuu kicks Jackie out of the ring, but Jackie somehow embeds his leg in the ring's wall, so that he isn't touching the ground. Gokuu then tries to kick Jackie out of the ring again, but Jackie has longer legs, which meant that Gokuu got hit first. Gokuu lands outside of the ring and loses the match. Jackie wins the 500,000 zennii prize money, and buys Gokuu dinner, which costs him 470,000 zennii.
